Transfer: Super Falcons star Alozie joins Chicago Stars

Super Falcons defender Michelle Alozie has completed a move to Chicago Stars FC from Houston Dash, the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) side have confirmed.

Chicago Stars acquired Alozie in exchange for $40,000 in allocation money and have handed the Nigerian international a three-year contract that will keep her at the club through the 2028 NWSL season.

Alozie began her professional career with Houston Dash in 2021, initially joining the club as a national team replacement player before earning a full roster spot. The California-born defender featured four times in her rookie season, playing a total of 114 minutes.

She enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in 2022, scoring two goals in 10 regular-season appearances and playing a key role as Houston Dash qualified for the NWSL playoffs for the first time in the club’s history.

On the international scene, Alozie represents Nigeria and earned her first call-up and cap in June 2021, marking the occasion by scoring her debut goal for the Super Falcons. She has since made 26 appearances for the national team, scoring two goals.

The 27-year-old has been part of Nigeria’s squads for major tournaments, including the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the 2024 Olympic Games, and will now look to continue her career growth with Chicago Stars ahead of the new NWSL season.
