Harry Maguire says the time following the injury, which kept him out of the FA Cup final and European Championship, was the toughest period of his football career.

The English stopper was supposed to be part of both the FA Cup final and the EC, but an injury put an end to it all.

“It was really a hard moment in my career.

“It is probably the hardest in my career so far. I had worked hard all year and put myself in a position to play these big games towards the end of the season.

The cup final and the European Championship, where I had to try to win the tournament for my country.

“Mentally and physically I was in a good place, so I could perform at my highest level.

“So getting injured and having that setback was really hard for me, he told Sky Sports.

The 31-year-old Maguire has yet to make a comeback after his muscle injury.
