Tottenham Hotspur has sacked head coach Thomas Frank following a disastrous Premier League campaign that has left the club just five points above the relegation zone and without a league win in 2026.

Frank, who was appointed in June 2025, departs after the club’s leadership concluded that results and performances had made his position untenable despite earlier efforts to offer him time and institutional backing.

In an official statement, the club said:“Thomas was appointed in June 2025, and we have been determined to give him the time and support needed to build for the future together.

However, results and performances have led the Board to conclude that a change at this point in the season is necessary.

Throughout his time at the Club, Thomas has conducted himself with unwavering commitment, giving everything in his efforts to move the Club forward. We would like to thank him for his contribution and wish him every success in the future.”

Sources indicate the decision was taken by Spurs’ leadership team, including chief executive Vinai Venkatesham and technical director Johan Lange, before being recommended to the board.

Nick Beucher, acting on behalf of the Lewis family, was also actively involved in the process despite not holding a formal board position.

Tottenham are understood to have several contingency plans in place, including interim managerial options, as they move quickly to stabilise the season.
Attention has already turned to potential permanent successors.

Former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is a leading candidate for the role, although he is not expected to be available until after the World Cup.

Roberto De Zerbi and Andoni Iraola are also on the club’s shortlist, with both coaches previously admired by former chairman Daniel Levy, who had failed in earlier attempts to appoint them.

Meanwhile, Frank’s recently-appointed assistant, John Heitinga, remains under contract with the club for now, as Tottenham continue internal discussions over the interim and long-term managerial structure.

With relegation fears growing and the season at a critical juncture, Spurs now face a defining period as they seek a swift reset both on and off the pitch.
