President Bola Tinubu has announced a $100,000 cash reward for each member of Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, for winning the recently concluded African Championship.
In addition to the cash reward, the players will each receive a new apartment, while the coaching crew will get $50,000 each.
The president also conferred the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) on all team members.
This gesture comes just days after Tinubu’s $100,000 reward to the Super Falcons — winners of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco — generated public debate.
