Nigeria’s Super Falcons secured a 3-1 victory over the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon in their second international friendly at the Military Stadium, Yaoundé, on Tuesday night.
The 10-time African champions went into the encounter seeking redemption after suffering a 1-0 defeat to the hosts in the first friendly last Saturday. Under the guidance of head coach Justine Madugu, the Falcons delivered a far more assertive and clinical performance to turn the tie around.
Cameroon drew first blood in the seventh minute through Christiane, putting the home side ahead early in the contest.
Nigeria responded with greater attacking intent and restored parity in the 32nd minute when Chiwendu Ihezuo found the back of the net.
The momentum swung firmly in Nigeria’s favour three minutes before the interval as Rinsola Babajide put the visitors ahead for the first time, calmly finishing from inside the box.
The Super Falcons extended their advantage in the 64th minute, with Michelle Alozie rising highest to head home and make it 3-1.
Nigeria maintained control for the remainder of the game, seeing out the contest comfortably to complete a convincing comeback win over their West African rivals.
