Udinese Group Technical Director, Nani, has confirmed that Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has rejoined the Bianconeri squad after serving a two-month suspension for betting-related offences.

Speaking to Messaggero Veneto, Nani expressed delight at Okoye’s return, noting that his presence will boost the team’s strength following his enforced absence.

“We welcome Maduka back,” Nani said, as quoted by Tuttoudinese.

Okoye, 26, joined Udinese in the summer of 2023 and quickly established himself as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper before his suspension. Prior to his move to Italy, he featured for Watford in England.

Nani, however, clarified that the decision on whether Okoye reclaims his starting spot rests solely with the head coach.

“The choices are up to the coach, who has maximum freedom,” he added.

Udinese will next be in action on Monday, October 20, when they face Cremonese in a Serie A encounter.
