Members of Nigeria’s Super Eagles squad that finished second at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire have received their long-awaited land and housing rewards, following presentations made by the National Sports Commission (NSC).
The gesture forms part of the incentives promised to the team after their impressive run to the final of the continental showpiece, where they emerged runners-up after losing to hosts Côte d’Ivoire.
Officials of the National Sports Commission handed over the allocation documents to the players, reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to honouring outstanding sporting achievements and motivating athletes to excel on the international stage.
The Super Eagles’ performance at the tournament drew widespread praise across the country, as the team overcame several top sides on their way to the final, rekindling national pride and unity among Nigerians.
The NSC stated that the fulfillment of the housing and land pledge underscores the importance of keeping promises made to athletes, adding that such rewards are crucial for encouraging future success in Nigerian sports.
The Super Eagles will now shift focus to upcoming international assignments, with expectations high that the recognition and support will further inspire them to deliver more glory for the nation.
