The Senegal Football Federation (FSF) has officially reacted to the disciplinary sanctions imposed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) following the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final against Morocco.
In a statement released on Friday, the FSF confirmed it had formally acknowledged Decision DC23315, issued on January 28, 2026, by CAF’s Disciplinary Committee, relating to incidents arising from the AFCON final.
After reviewing the ruling, the Senegalese football body disclosed that it has informed CAF of its decision not to appeal the sporting and financial sanctions handed down.
The waiver of appeal also covers the individual disciplinary measures imposed on the national team head coach, Pape Bouna Thiaw, as well as players Ismaïla Sarr and Iliman Cheikh Baroy Ndiaye.
The federation further stated that, in line with Article 91.4 of the CAF Disciplinary Code, it will assume full financial responsibility for all fines levied against the association, its technical officials, and the affected players.
While accepting the sanctions, the FSF reiterated its commitment to safeguarding its legitimate rights and interests within football’s governing structures.
It, however, emphasized that any future actions will be pursued strictly in line with CAF statutes and regulations, with a focus on promoting the integrity of the game and the development and credibility of African football.
