Rafael Nadal had mixed feelings about his lost final at the tennis tournament in Bastad.

The 38-year-old Spaniard was unhappy with his level, but was happy that he had not suffered any injuries in the run-up to the Olympic Games .

“The level was so far from what it should be. Probably also the energy.

It was a long week with long matches, It’s important that I didn’t suffer any damage, but mentally and physically I’m not used to playing long matches four days in a row anymore.”

Nadal had added the Bastad tournament to his schedule to prepare himself well for the Olympic Games.

The Spaniard skipped the grass season, so as not to have to change surfaces after Roland Garros.

The Paris Games will also be played on clay.

Nadal won Olympic gold in singles in 2008 and won the gold medal in doubles in 2016.

At the Paris Games, he will compete in doubles with Carlos Alcaraz, this year’s winner of Roland Garros and Wimbledon.

The tennis tournament at the Games starts on July 27.
