The 2025/26 Premier League season kicked off in style, with Manchester City cruising to a 4-0 win over Wolves.
Erling Haaland grabbed a brace, but debutants Tijjani Reijnders who delivered a goal, an assist, and a pre-assist and Rayan Cherki, who scored within 17 minutes of his introduction, were the standout performers.
Elsewhere, Tottenham Hotspur eased past Burnley 3-0 thanks to a Richarlison double, while Brighton were denied late in a 1-1 draw with Fulham as Rodrigo Muniz struck in stoppage time. Newly promoted Sunderland marked their Premier League return in emphatic fashion, defeating West Ham 3-0 with three second-half goals.
Following Liverpool’s emotional Friday night win over Bournemouth, Saturday’s early kick-off ended goalless as 10-man Aston Villa held Newcastle United. Ezri Konsa’s dismissal left Villa defending deep, while Newcastle struggled without went away striker Alexander Isak, who is heavily linked with a move to Liverpool.
