English Premier League legend Gareth Barry has come out of retirement to sign for Hurstpierpoint FC.

Barry featured for Aston Villa, Manchester City, Everton, and West Brom in the Premier League and made 680 appearances with 54 goals.

The 42-year old who holds the record for most appearances in the premier league history with an astonishing 680 matches to his name, has bid farewell to professional football in 2020 after his tenure with the Baggies ended.

” We are beyond delighted to announce that former England international and all-time Premier League record appearance holder, Gareth Barry, has signed for Hurstpierpoint Football Club.

Gareth has a long-standing association with the village through his good friend, and our Coach, Michael Standing; so it seemed an obvious move to get him involved with the football club.

His quality in training has been unreal, so we’re all very excited to see him pull on the shirt and grace the Fairfield turf later this season.

Welcome to Hurstpierpoint, Gareth”, the club said.
