The Osun State Police Command has confirmed the death of 29-year-old Adeyemi Adewale, a footballer from the Ilesa West Football team.
Reports indicate that Adewale collapsed during a football tournament in Osogbo, the state capital, on Thursday.
He was promptly taken to the Osun State University Teaching Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by medical personnel.
The incident occurred during the Adeleke Memorial Cup Final match at Ataoja School of Science. Yemisi Opalola, spokesperson for the Osun Police Command, confirmed the details, adding that an investigation into the incident is underway.
