England-born Super Falcons defender, Ashleigh Plumptre, has cried out over ongoing cases of impersonation on social media.

The alert comes in the wake of Nigeria’s commanding 3-0 victory over Tunisia in their opening Group B match at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Plumptre played a key role in the Super Falcons’ solid defensive display, helping the nine-time African champions keep a clean sheet against their North African opponents.

Speaking after the match, Plumptre, in a chat with Ademola Victor TV, expressed concern over fake online profiles using her identity.

“There have been a lot of cases where people impersonate me, using my name to make false claims,” she revealed.

She specifically warned about fraudulent Facebook accounts created in her name, with some even making fake promises of money.

“One of the fake Facebook accounts was recently taken down, but it had been misleading people with false offers — that’s simply not true,” Plumptre stated.

She further clarified that she no longer uses Facebook and any account claiming to be hers is fake.

“I have a personal Facebook account, but I don’t even use it anymore,” she stressed.
