The camp of Team Nigeria in Paris was in jubilation mood on Wednesday when Esther Nworgu clinched a silver in the Para-powelifting.
In the 41kg category the competition was fierce, with both Nworgu and China’s Zhen Cui breaking records in succession in their quest for victory, pushing one another to a total of four paralympic records during the event.
However, it was China’s Zhe Cui who claimed gold ultimately with a record-breaking lift of 119kg.
Nworgu’s initial attempt at 106kg was the second heaviest weight entered, just behind Cui’s 108kg and claimed silver .
