Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has revealed how the swift involvement of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president, Ibrahim Gusau, resolved the players’ bonus dispute ahead of their crucial World Cup playoff fixture.
The Nigerian squad reportedly refused to train on Tuesday in protest over unpaid bonuses and allowances, raising concerns over possible disruption to their preparations.
However, Osimhen explained that the timely action of the NFF boss ensured the matter was settled quickly, allowing the team to refocus on the task ahead.
“There are some things that have to be rectified. I have to say big kudos to the NFF president, he swiftly came into the picture and got it sorted, which is fine and good,” Osimhen said in an interview with ESPN UK.
“Now, we have come and won the game, everything is resolved, we go back to our hotel and try to see if we can get it done.”
The Napoli star expressed relief that the situation was handled with urgency and highlighted the unity within the squad despite the temporary standoff.
With the issue settled, the Super Eagles have maintained their full concentration as they continue their quest to secure a ticket to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
