Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen made history by surpassing Segun Odegbami in Nigeria’s all-time top scorer rankings after netting a brace in the team’s 2-0 victory over Rwanda in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in Kigali.
Osimhen opened the scoring in the 11th minute, converting a well-delivered freekick from Ademola Lookman to register his 24th international goal. With this, the Galatasaray forward surpassed Odegbami’s long-standing record of 23 goals for the national team.
The 25-year-old forward doubled his tally just before halftime, sealing a comfortable win for Nigeria. With 25 international goals, Osimhen now sits second in the country’s all-time goal-scoring charts, trailing only the late Rashidi Yekini, who remains Nigeria’s top scorer with 37 goals.
