Japan’s gymnastics captain Shoko Miyata is in real trouble ahead of the the commencement of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
The 19-year old violated the the team code of conduct by smoking in a public place, an attitude which was considered unacceptable.
According to update from the Japanese camp, Miyata has been dropped from the team and the investigation panel has been set up by the Japan Gymnastics Association.
Miyata had been expected to lead a team comprised the entirely of debutants and teenagers after she secured her Paris berth in May with a third consecutive NHK trophy.
