It was a mix for Team Nigeria on Monday evening in Paris; sprinter Favour Ofili cruised into the women’s 200-meter final.

Ofili did not allow her omission from the women’s 100 meters to deter her from living up to the expectations at the Olympics.

She won her heat in style on Sunday and zoomed into the semi-final of the event.

The American-based athlete continued her run on Monday as she reached the final of the Women’s 200 meters which made it the first time Nigeria athletes would reach the final of the event in 28 years.

But it was a different tune for Blessing Oborududu who started the day on an impressive note beating Canada Linda Morais in the early round and France’s opponent in the quarter final.

She suffered defeat to Kyrgyzstan’s Meerim Zhumanazarova in the semi final and lost in the opportunity to compete for gold and silver.

She is expected to be back to compete for bronze medal match on Tuesday against America’s Amit Elor.
