Rafael Nadal, after the defeat with his doubles partner Carlos Alcaraz at the Olympic Games, says he does not know whether he will play on the clay of Roland Garros again.
The injury-plagued Spaniard will have to continue until May 2025.
Nadal and Alcaraz were eliminated in the quarterfinals of the doubles on Wednesday, after a defeat by the Americans Austin Krajicek and Rajeev Ram.
Earlier, Nadal lost without a chance in the singles to Novak Djokovic, which means that the Games on the clay of Roland Garros are over for the Spaniard.
These are the last Games for the 38-year-old Nadal, who won Olympic gold in 2008 and 2016. He may retire after this season due to persistent injuries.
It is, therefore, possible that Nadal has already played his last match on the clay of Roland Garros.
He has won the Grand Slam tournament in Paris fourteen times.
” Maybe. I don’t know yet,” he said afterward.
“If this was the last time for me, it would have been an unforgettable experience.
The crowd gave me love and support every second I was on the pitch. It’s super special to feel that, especially in this place.
I can’t thank the crowd enough for giving me the support I’ve felt all this time”, he said
