Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz reached the round of 16 in doubles at the Olympic Games in Paris on Saturday.
The Spanish duo was too strong for the Argentinean duo Máximo González and Andrés Molteni: 7-6 (4) and 6-4.
Nadal and Alcaraz started badly on the Court Philippe-Chatrier and lost their first service. The duo immediately repaired the damage, after which the set ended in a tiebreak. In that, the Spaniards were stronger than the competition.
In the second set, Nadal and Alcaraz came back from behind again. At 4-4, the duo struck again at the Argentinians’ turn. After an hour and three quarters, Nadal and Alcaraz made the winning point.
Nadal will be taking part in his last Games in Paris. The fourteen-time Roland Garros winner won Olympic gold in singles in 2008. In 2016, the veteran won an Olympic title in doubles.
