The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) has fired head coach Beverly Priestman of the women’s soccer team over allegations that drones were used to spy on New Zealand training.
Two staff members were sent home on Wednesday over the same incident.
Canada Soccer, the Canadian soccer federation, had already decided to suspend Priestman.
Following suit, the country’s Olympic Committee also decided to expel her.
Canada Soccer decided to suspend Priestman because of additional allegations, according to president Kevin Blue.
The suspension will last through the Olympics and until an announced external investigation is completed. Assistant coach Andy Spench will take over from Priestman.
Canada defeated New Zealand 2-1 in the opening match on Thursday.
