Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has expressed mixed feelings following his impressive penalty save in Udinese’s 3-0 defeat to Bologna in the Italian Serie A.
Okoye produced several crucial stops during the encounter, including a brilliant save to deny Riccardo Orsolini from the spot. His individual performance earned him praise from fans and analysts despite Udinese’s disappointing result.
Speaking after the match, the former Watford shot-stopper acknowledged both the positives and areas needing improvement.
“I’m happy with the penalty saved, but not with the match, which we started well anyway. That’s football: I saved a penalty but then I made a mistake on the second goal. We need to move forward and analyze the good and bad things we did today,” Okoye said via the club’s official website.
The result means Udinese continue their struggle for consistency this season, but Okoye’s form remains a bright spot as they look to bounce back in upcoming fixtures.
