Super Falcons forward Esther Okoronkwo has reacted after missing out on the final shortlist for the CAF Awards.

The United States–based striker was initially among the nominees in her category but failed to make the final three announced by the Confederation of African Football.

In her reaction, Okoronkwo said she respects the decision but believes true recognition comes from performance on the field.

“I remain grateful for the support across Africa. CAF’s decision is noted, but my focus is on the pitch, where recognition is earned,” she said.

According to her, awards do not always reflect reality.

“Awards don’t reflect reality, but the pitch never lies,” Okoronkwo added.

The 27-year-old has been one of the standout performers for club and country over the past year, scoring crucial goals for the Super Falcons during the WAFCON qualifiers and the Olympic playoff rounds.

She is expected to play a major role as Nigeria continues preparations ahead of upcoming international engagements.
