NPFL Round-up: Remo Stars, Rivers United picks home win, as Heartland’s poor run continues

The 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League season entered match day 4, and it was a good outing for Remo Stars, Rivers United, and Shooting Stars.

At the Adoke Amasiamaka Stadium in Port-Harcout, goals from Ubong Friday and Seiyefa Jackson gave Rivers United a comfortable 2-0 win over Enyimba International.

Abia Warriors defeated Kano Pillars 2-0 in Umuahia with goals from Sunday Megwo and Onugwa Adejoh.

Bendel Insurance held Niger Tornadoes to a 1-1 draw in Minna, Jonas Emmanuel gave Tornadoes the lead in the 50th minute before Vincent Okeke brought Insurance level 10 minutes later.

In Borno, El Kanemi Warriors came from a 2-0 down to draw 2-2 against Plateau United.

Victor Dawa and Saka Gafar gave the Jos-based side a 2-goal advantage while Ibrahim Mustafa and Samaila Bello equalised for the host

Samuel Ayanrinde netted the only goal of the game in Shooting Stars’ 1-0 win over Heartland FC in Ibadan.

In Ikenne, Remo Stars defeated Rangers 2-1 and continued their flawless season.

After a scoreless first half, Alex Oyowah gave Remo the opening goal in the 51st minute before Raymond Tochukwu equalized, while Kenechukwu Agu scored the winning goal from the penalty for the Sky Blue Boys.
