Katsina United have declared their striker Uche Collins Absent Without Official Leave (AWOL) after the player allegedly abandoned the team and went into hiding.

Reports indicate that Collins, currently the club’s top scorer, last featured for Katsina United on February 22 in an NPFL clash against Rangers at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium.

Since that match, the forward has reportedly been unreachable and is said to have vacated the club’s accommodation without notifying the management.

Katsina United chairman, Alhaji Surajo Umar Baba, confirmed that the player is now in breach of his contract and hinted that he may be in talks with a European club.

“The player has been absent from the club’s activities without official permission since February 22, 2026, when he played in our match against Rangers International,” Baba stated.

He also warned interested clubs against making a move for the striker, stressing that Collins remains under contract with Katsina United.

“We have heard rumours that he is in talks with a European club, but let it be clear that Uche Collins is a Katsina United player with a binding contract that runs until the end of the 2026/2027 season,” he added.

“Any club attempting to lure him away should be cautious, as they may face legal consequences and disciplinary action.”

Baba further described the striker’s actions as a violation of contractual obligations and football regulations.

“His conduct clearly breaches NPFL regulations, the Commercial Framework and FIFA rules. We have taken the matter seriously and reported it to the relevant authorities,” he said.

The club has also requested that Collins’ International Transfer Certificate (ITC) be withheld until the issue is resolved.

“We appreciate the continued support of our fans and stakeholders and assure them that the matter will be handled in line with the rules and regulations of the game,” Baba concluded.
