Noah Lyles won Olympic gold in the 100 meters on Sunday.
The American athlete lived up to his favorite role in the premier event and recorded a personal best of 9.79 seconds.
Lyles didn’t get off to a super-fast start at the Stade de France; the 27-year-old American had to chase and straighten it out in the final tens of meters.
At the finish line, Lyles pushed his head over the line 0.005 seconds ahead of Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson, who had to settle for silver with a time of 9.79 seconds. American Fred Kerley (9.81) took bronze.
