Nigerian midfielder Chibuike Nwaiwu has clinched his first major European title after helping Wolfsberger AC secure the Austrian Cup.
Wolfsberger AC edged out Hartberg 1-0 in a hard-fought final at the 28 Black Arena. Angelo Gattermayer netted the match-winner with a powerful header in the 77th minute.
Nwaiwu featured for the full 90 minutes, playing a key role in midfield throughout the encounter.
The 23-year-old joined Wolfsberger AC last summer from Nigerian giants Enyimba, where he previously helped the club win the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title two seasons ago.
With this victory, Wolfsberger AC have also booked a spot in next season’s UEFA Europa League.
