As preparations ramp up for the 2025 African Schools Football Championship, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has unveiled a lineup of seven football legends set to mentor and inspire the next generation of talent.

Notably absent from the list are Nigerian legends, a move that has sparked conversations among fans and stakeholders.

The third edition of Africa’s premier youth football competition will take place in Accra, Ghana, from April 23 to 26, 2025.

The tournament will bring together the defending champions, six Zonal qualifiers, and hosts Ghana, all vying for the title of continental champions.

In alignment with CAF’s strategic vision for youth football development, the organization has enlisted seven celebrated African football icons to offer mentorship, lead training sessions, and provide motivational support to the Under-15 players.

The selected legends are Clementine Toure (Côte d’Ivoire), Robert Kidiaba (DR Congo), Asamoah Gyan, Pele, Adjoa Bayor (all Ghana), Amanda Dlamini (South Africa), and Karim Haggui (Tunisia).

These legends will be actively involved in training clinics, capacity-building workshops, and matchday activities, offering both technical guidance and emotional support to the young players.

Among them, Gyan, Dlamini, and Kidiaba are making a return to the Continental finals, having previously played a similar role in the 2022 and 2024 editions of the competition.
