Nigerian-eligible forward Chuba Akpom was the eye-catcher with Ajax on Thursday during the easily won away match against Jagiellonia Bialystok 1-4 in the playoffs of the Europa League.
The goals, one of which was a converted penalty, were very welcome for Akpom.
The 28-year-old Englishman had already had several chances in previous games but had not yet scored this season.
“This feels great. The most important thing is that we won and are close to the Europa League, but a hat-trick feels very special for a striker. It’s a perfect day,” he said.
The return match between Ajax and Jagiellonia Bialystok fixed for next Thursday
