Nigeria’s Super Eagles clinched the Unity Cup title on Saturday evening with a hard-fought victory over Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz at the Community Stadium in London.
The tournament began with Nigeria securing a 2-1 win over long-time rivals Ghana, while Jamaica earned their place in the final by edging Trinidad and Tobago 3-2.
In a thrilling final, Nigeria struck first through Moses Simon early in the first half, only for Jamaica to respond swiftly with an equalizer from Dixon. Samuel Chukwueze restored the Super Eagles’ lead in the 53rd minute, but the Reggae Boyz once again drew level just 10 minutes later.
With the match ending 2-2 in regulation time, the title was decided by penalties, where Nigeria held their nerve to triumph 5-4 in the shootout, securing the Unity Cup crown.
