The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau, has revealed why Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle is not considering a move away from Nigeria despite growing interest from other countries.

Several nations have reportedly approached the Franco-Malian tactician following his impressive performance with the Super Eagles at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where his tactical approach and leadership drew widespread admiration.

Speaking on the development, Gusau made it clear that Chelle’s commitment goes beyond financial incentives, stressing that the coach is driven more by career fulfillment and success than monetary offers.

“The dream of every single coach is to make sure that he achieves success, especially at big tournaments. So it’s not the issue of money, but whether he will achieve what he wants to achieve in his career, or if he is just going there for the money,” Gusau said.

The NFF president further emphasized Chelle’s belief in the Super Eagles project and his confidence in achieving his coaching ambitions with Nigeria.

“The key thing is that I know coach Eric believes in the Super Eagles and he believes he can achieve whatever he wants to achieve in his career when it comes to coaching, especially with the national team within the African continent.

“So, he has so much belief in the Super Eagles and he has every confidence he can achieve all his dreams with the Super Eagles. That’s the key thing I believe in, and I know we’ve discussed it with him. To us, we believe in him, he is part of the Super Eagles and will continue to be part of the Super Eagles.”

Gusau’s comments appear to put to rest speculations surrounding Chelle’s future, reinforcing the NFF’s confidence in the coach and its commitment to long-term stability for the Super Eagles.
