Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has given Beşiktaş fresh injury concerns after picking up a knock during Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against South Africa.

The Istanbul club confirmed on Thursday that the Super Eagles star sustained a strain with bleeding in his posterior thigh muscle (semimembranosus). Ndidi has since returned to Türkiye for treatment.

“Our player, who could not complete the match due to this injury, was treated immediately upon arrival,” Beşiktaş said in an official statement. “MRI scans revealed stretching and hemorrhage, and our medical team has started the necessary treatment.”

Ndidi’s potential spell on the sidelines is a significant blow for the Siyah-Beyazlı, who rely on his experience and defensive solidity ahead of crucial fixtures.
