Antonio Conte’s men faced stiff competition from Inter, who remained in contention until the very last matchday. Heading into the final round just one point behind Napoli, the Nerazzurri kept the pressure on, leaving the title race on a knife edge.
Such was the intensity of the competition that a title-deciding play-off remained a real possibility going into the last weekend. But Napoli held their nerve, finishing the season with 82 points from 38 games — comprised of 24 wins, 10 draws, and four defeats — to emerge as champions of Italy.
