Morocco 2025: Nigeria defeats South Africa on home soil

South Africa’s Bantwana saw their hopes of qualifying for the 2025 U-17 Women’s World Cup take a major hit after suffering a home defeat to Nigeria’s Flamingos.

From the opening whistle, Nigeria dominated proceedings and took the lead in the 20th minute through Shakirat Moshood.

Chidi Harmony doubled Nigeria’s advantage from the penalty spot in the 40th minute, silencing the home crowd.

South Africa pulled one back early in the second half when Malebana converted a penalty.

However, Harmony struck again in the 67th minute, sealing a crucial 3-1 away victory for the Flamingos.
