Mohamed Salah has ended speculation over his Liverpool future by signing a new two-year contract that will keep him at Anfield beyond the 2024-25 season.
The Egyptian forward, who had been linked with a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia, has reaffirmed his commitment to the Reds by putting pen to paper. With his future now secured, Liverpool are optimistic that Virgil van Dijk will also follow suit and extend his stay.
In an official statement, the club said:
“Liverpool FC can announce Mohamed Salah has signed a new contract that will keep him with the club beyond the 2024-25 season. The forward, who is enjoying another standout campaign, has committed his future to the Reds.”
Salah has been in sensational form this season, scoring 32 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions, including 27 in the Premier League — making him the league’s top scorer. He has also provided 22 assists, underlining his importance to the team.
His new deal means Salah will continue his remarkable Anfield journey, which began in 2017 when he joined from AS Roma, into a potential tenth season under new head coach Arne Slot.
Speaking after the announcement, Salah said:
“Of course I’m very excited. We have a great team now — we had a great team before as well — but I signed because I believe we can win more trophies and I’m enjoying my football.
I’ve had my best years here. I’ve played eight years, and hopefully it will be 10. I’m enjoying life and football here.
To the fans, I want to say I’m very, very happy to be here. I signed because I believe we can win big things together. Keep supporting us, and we’ll give everything to bring more trophies to Anfield.”
Since arriving on Merseyside, Salah has firmly established himself as a Liverpool legend. His new contract is reported to be worth around £400,000 per week, including performance-related bonuses.
With Salah secured and Van Dijk likely to follow, Liverpool look set to enter a new era with their star players still at the heart of the project.
