Nigeria’s Super Falcons, nine-time African champions and title hopefuls, are set to arrive in Casablanca, Morocco, on Wednesday night from Lisbon, Portugal.

The traveling party includes 22 players and team officials, while China-based forward Folashade Ijamilusi and USA-based star Asisat Oshoala are already in Casablanca ahead of the team’s arrival.

The Super Falcons recently held Portugal to a goalless draw in a keenly contested friendly at Estádio José Gomes in Lisbon on Monday night. Goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, defender Shukurat Oladipo, and experienced forward Francisca Ordega all delivered standout performances.

Nigeria will open their 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) campaign against Tunisia at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca on Sunday, July 6, before facing Botswana and Algeria in the group stage.

Since the tournament’s inception as the African Women’s Championship in 1998, the Super Falcons have reached the semi-finals in every edition. They have lifted the trophy nine times — in 1998, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2010, 2014, 2016, and 2018 — and secured semi-final spots in 2008, 2012, and 2022.
