Chelsea legend John Mikel Obi has backed Victor Osimhen to secure a dream move to the Premier League side.
Osimhen was previously linked with a transfer to Chelsea last summer, but the deal fell through. Instead, the 26-year-old striker joined Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray on loan from Napoli.
With Chelsea still struggling to find a consistent goal-scorer, Mikel believes the Nigerian forward could finally make the switch to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.
“Chelsea has always been his club. He has openly said it’s his childhood club — growing up, he always wanted to play for them,” Mikel said on the Obione podcast.
“His idol is Didier Drogba; he loves the way he played. He’s made it clear this is the club he wants to join. Unfortunately, the move didn’t happen last summer, but you never know — I don’t think the door is completely shut.”
