Mathias Pogba has been sentenced to three years in prison, two of which are suspended, for his role in the extortion case against his brother Paul, a court in Paris decided on Thursday.

The court found it proven that Mathias tried to blackmail his brother Paul. The top footballer was held in March 2022 in an apartment in Montévrain, about 30 kilometers outside Paris.

There, two armed men demanded 13 million euros from the former Manchester United and Juventus player.

Mathias was not present on the night of the kidnapping, but came into the picture a few months later through videos on social media. In them, he accused his brother of witchcraft, among other things.

In addition to a prison sentence, Mathias will receive a fine of 20,000 euros. His lawyer has already announced that he will appeal.
