Fulham manager Marco Silva has backed Nigerian international Calvin Bassey to become a top-level defender, but emphasized the need for improvement in his aerial ability.
Bassey, who joined the Premier League side from Ajax Amsterdam last summer, featured in Fulham’s clash against Bournemouth on Monday.
“I know him very well. As I’ve said many times since he arrived—after a tough season at Ajax following his spell at Rangers—we truly believe in his potential,” Silva said.
“He has all the attributes of a modern defender: he’s quick, strong, and aggressive in duels. But he must improve in aerial battles and stay focused throughout the game to reach the next level.”
Silva remains confident in Bassey’s ability to develop into a high-level player, underlining the club’s faith in his talent and progression.
