Manchester United have parted ways with head coach Rúben Amorim following a disappointing sequence of results, the club confirmed on Monday.
In a brief statement, United said the decision was taken after a sustained run of poor performances that left the club well short of expectations domestically.
The Portuguese tactician, who arrived with a strong reputation after his success in Portugal, struggled to translate that form to the Premier League.
Amorim’s tenure at Old Trafford was marked by inconsistency, with United failing to mount a serious challenge for major honours and slipping behind their main rivals in the league standings.
Despite flashes of promise, the team’s overall results and performances did not meet the club’s long-term objectives.
Manchester United thanked Amorim and his staff for their efforts and professionalism, and wished him well in his future career.
The club added that further updates regarding interim arrangements and the search for a new manager would be communicated in due course.
United are expected to move quickly to stabilise the squad as they prepare for their upcoming fixtures amid increasing pressure from supporters and stakeholders.
