Arne Slot’s costly decision to field a B-team for Liverpool’s away match against Plymouth Argyle on Sunday afternoon ended in a stunning 1-0 loss.

The Premier League leaders were eliminated by the 24th-ranked team in the Championship, marking another surprise result in the FA Cup.

Slot opted to leave key players—including Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andrew Robertson, Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konaté, Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister, Mohamed Salah, and Cody Gakpo—out of the squad for the trip to Plymouth.

Despite sitting at the bottom of the Championship, Plymouth Argyle added another memorable moment to their FA Cup campaign. Liverpool had nine minutes of added time to try and force extra time, but they couldn’t find the back of the net. In the 99th minute, Plymouth goalkeeper Conor Hazard made a crucial save to seal the victory for the hosts.
