French Ligue 1 club OGC Nice has strongly condemned the violent attack suffered by Nigerian forward Terem Moffi and Ivorian winger Jérémie Boga following the team’s 3–1 defeat to Lorient on Sunday.

According to reports, the pair were confronted and attacked by furious supporters after the squad returned to the club’s training center, as frustrations continue to rise over the team’s poor recent performances.

In an official statement released on Monday evening, OGC Nice expressed full support for both players and emphasized that the behavior witnessed from the angry section of fans was unacceptable.

“On Sunday, upon their return from Lorient, the Aiglons were greeted by a large gathering outside the Training Center. The club understands the frustration generated by the string of poor performances and displays far removed from its values,” the club said.

“However, the excesses observed during this gathering are unacceptable. Several club members were targeted,” the statement added, as quoted by RMC Sports.

The club also called for unity and respect, urging supporters to channel their passion positively as the team works to recover its form.

Moffi and Boga are expected to continue training with the squad as investigations into the incident continue.
