Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi was back among the goals as OGC Nice defeated Auxerre 3-1 at the Allianz Riviera on Saturday evening in Ligue 1.

The 26-year-old forward, making his way back from a lengthy injury layoff, netted his first goal of the 2025/26 season his first in 243 days just minutes after coming off the bench.

Introduced in the 73rd minute, Moffi needed only three minutes to make an impact, rising highest to head home Tom Louchet’s cross after Auxerre goalkeeper mishandled the ball. His strike sealed Nice’s first victory of the campaign.

The match began with fireworks as Jeremie Boga fired Nice ahead inside three minutes, before Lassine Sinayoko equalised for Auxerre in the 21st minute. Les Aiglons quickly restored their lead through a Clement Akpa own goal just three minutes later.

Auxerre’s hopes were further dented when goalkeeper Leon Donovan was shown a red card in first-half stoppage time, leaving the visitors to play the rest of the game with 10 men.

With the advantage, Nice pressed for a third, and Moffi delivered the decisive moment. The goal stood after a brief VAR check, much to the delight of the home fans.

For Moffi, it marked a personal triumph after missing most of last season with a serious anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus injury that kept him sidelined for over eight months.
