Nigeria’s Super Falcons suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Cameroon in an international friendly played in Yaounde on Saturday.

The double-header encounter was arranged as part of preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations scheduled to take place in Morocco.

The 10-time African champions dominated large spells of the game at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium but were unable to convert their chances into goals.

Despite controlling possession and creating opportunities in the final third, the Super Falcons were left frustrated by a resolute Cameroonian defence.

The hosts capitalised late in the game, scoring the decisive goal to secure a 1-0 victory in front of their home fans in Yaounde.

Nigeria will have the chance to respond when both sides clash again in the second leg of the friendly next week, as the technical crew continues to assess the squad ahead of the continental showpiece.
