Former Lazio and Trabzonspor midfielder Ogenyi Onazi has strongly rejected the ex-international tag on his name.
The combative player has been out of the national team since 2018 and consistent injury has affected his club football performance.
Between 2018 and 2024, Ogenyi has signed for several clubs in different countries but is yet to regain his old form.
While speaking to Brila FM, Ogenyi confirmed that he has not retired from the national team.
“I have not retired, if they call me an ex-international, I don’t know why, but anyway it is okay”, he said.
Ogenyi was part of the victorious Super Eagles team to the 2013 African Cup of Nations in South Africa under late coach Stephen Keshi.
