Werder Bremen forward Victor Boniface has opened up about his struggles with Nigeria’s national team, admitting that he has been unlucky when it comes to scoring goals for the Super Eagles.
Despite earning multiple call-ups to represent his country, Boniface has yet to find the back of the net for Nigeria, a drought that has sparked criticism from fans. The 22-year-old striker has been a part of several national team campaigns, but has faced difficulties translating his club form into international success.
In an interview with renowned football journalist Oma Akatugba, Boniface expressed his frustration but remained positive about his future with the national team.
“I have been unlucky with the national team in terms of scoring goals, even though there were a couple of games I was not good,” Boniface confessed. “My biggest dream as a football player was to represent my country, and I achieved this. I am grateful for this.”
Boniface acknowledged that his performances have not always lived up to expectations, but he emphasized that his lack of goals does not reflect his overall ability.
“Just because it has not worked out for me with the national team doesn’t mean I am a bad player,” he said. “I know my qualities, and I believe in myself. I am still working hard to improve and make an impact.”
The young striker remains hopeful that his fortunes will change, both for the Super Eagles and in his personal career. Despite the criticism, Boniface is determined to continue working hard for his country and fulfill his potential on the international stage.
