A man who stormed the pitch during Ghana’s Group I 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Chad has been sentenced to 100 days in prison, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed.

Mohammed Huzeinu interrupted the Matchday 5 clash last Friday by invading the field, temporarily halting play. His actions could have financial consequences for the GFA, as the Confederation of African Football (CAF) may impose a fine on the association.

Pitch invasions are considered a serious security breach, disrupting matches and posing risks to players and officials. The sentencing serves as a strong warning to fans about the repercussions of violating stadium regulations.

The GFA urged supporters to adhere to matchday protocols, stressing the importance of discipline to avoid sanctions and uphold Ghana’s reputation in international football.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars continued their impressive qualification campaign with a dominant 3-0 away victory over Madagascar on Monday. The win solidified their position at the top of the group with 15 points, extending their lead over second-placed Madagascar by five points.
