Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray have confirmed that Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has sustained a moderate ankle ligament sprain.

The club released an official medical statement on Monday, revealing the outcome of tests conducted at their partner hospital after the forward picked up the knock.

“During the examinations carried out today at our partner hospital on our first team player, Victor Osimhen, a moderate ankle ligament sprain (with stretching and bleeding) was diagnosed. The necessary treatment has been started so that he can return to the pitch as soon as possible,” explained Galatasaray’s first-team doctor, Op. Dr. Yener İnce.

Osimhen, who joined Galatasaray in the summer, has already made a bright start to life in Turkey with key goals in both domestic and European fixtures. His injury, however, comes as a setback for manager Okan Buruk, who will be hoping to have the Nigerian back quickly as the club continues its title defence and UEFA Champions League campaign.

While the club has not provided a specific timeline for his recovery, reports suggest Osimhen could be sidelined for several weeks depending on how he responds to treatment.

The Nigerian international remains a vital figure for both Galatasaray and the Super Eagles, who are preparing for crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers later this year.
