Nigeria’s Super Eagles striker Gift Orban has been dropped from the first-team squad of French Ligue 1 club Olympique Lyonnais due to disciplinary issues.
Orban joined the former champions last summer after a successful outing in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League with KAA Gent.
Lyon’s technical director, Pierre Sage, confirmed to L’Equipe that Orban, along with Ivorian star Wilfried Zaha, has been removed from the squad for misconduct.
The decision came after both players refused to train with teammates who have not been playing regularly, as well as those who didn’t feature in Lyon’s UEFA Europa League match against Scottish side Rangers.
