Sani Kaita has formally applied for the vacant coaching position of Nigeria’s U-17 national team, the Golden Eaglets, pledging to rebuild the side with discipline, grassroots integration and a clear modern tactical framework.

The ex-midfielder, who represented the Super Eagles during his playing career, is seeking his first major national team coaching role as the Nigeria Football Federation continues its search for a new handler for the cadet team.

Kaita, known for his combative style in midfield during his playing days, emphasized his desire to instill structure, professionalism and a strong football identity at youth level.

He also outlined plans to strengthen scouting networks across Nigeria’s grassroots competitions to ensure that the best young talents are identified early and properly developed.

The former Kano Pillars and European-based midfielder was part of Nigeria’s U-23 squad that won silver at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and later featured for the senior national team at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

With the Golden Eaglets aiming to return to dominance on the continental and global stage, Kaita believes his international experience and understanding of youth development can help reposition the team for sustained success.

The Nigeria Football Federation is expected to review all applications before announcing its decision in the coming weeks.
